"The reported incidents do not reflect the overall picture of Ayia Napa. Zero tolerance for illegal practices and incidents of harassment," says Mayor Christos Zannetou.
Regarding the uproar that arose in relation to the documentary by the British channel Channel 4, which refers to illegal and unacceptable working and living conditions, as well as incidents of sexual harassment against young British women workers in Ayia Napa, the Municipality of Ayia Napa, through the Mayor Mr. Christos Zannetou, unequivocally condemns the existence of such isolated incidents, which in no way reflect the overall picture of the area.
Ayia Napa is an international tourist destination, which hosts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year and operates with respect for legality, human rights and the dignity of all workers, as well as with respect for visitors.
The Municipality has already sent letters to all relevant Ministries, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Competent Authorities, so that they can take the necessary actions. At the same time, the Mayor is in contact with the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, as well as with the Chief of Police, with the aim of investigating the matter and taking all necessary measures.
