The launch of a new environmental initiative that aims at the aesthetic, ecological and functional upgrade of the urban environment is promoted by the Ayia Napa Municipal District of the Ayia Napa Municipality with the creation of artificial "green walls" in selected areas of the city.
The project involves the installation of vertical gardens with climbing and other types of plants in abandoned buildings and undeveloped plots, transforming them into aesthetic and environmental reference points. This initiative combines modern green policy with sustainable aesthetics and improving the quality of life of residents and visitors.
In his statements, the Deputy Mayor of the Ayia Napa Municipal District of the Ayia Napa Municipality, Mr. Antonis Christou, emphasized that "with the implementation of the first "green walls" our goal is to make our city greener, more humane and more sustainable."
By utilizing and transforming degraded spaces, he added, "we are strengthening our environmental identity and cultivating a new culture of urban greenery."
He also called on citizens to embrace this initiative and actively participate by installing green walls outside their premises or in other available spaces. “With collective effort,” he said, “we can change the image of our city for the better so that it becomes an example of green and sustainable urban development.”
