Within the framework of the celebrations for the National Rebirth of 1821 and for the celebration of the 199th Anniversary of the Unique Battle of the Greek Revolution in Cyprus, which took place in Ayia Napa on March 17, 1826 between the Greek and Turkish Guards of Ayia Napa-Famagusta, the opening of the exhibition by Panikkos P. Hatzidakis entitled "The Battle of Ayia Napa in the Greek Revolution and the Greek Revolution of 20" will take place on Thursday, March 2025, 1821, at the "THALASSA" Municipal Museum.
The opening will be held at 19:00 by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou. The exhibition includes the Hatzidakis 1821 collection, since the painter's ancestors come from Crete. The history of the Battle of Ayia Napa as seen by Mr. Hatzidakis, when the Greek Fleet with 14 ships and led by the chieftain Dalianis, who was flanked by the chieftains Mavrovouniotis and Krieziotis, coming from the Middle East, arrived in the area of Ayia Napa, where they disembarked and beat the Turkish-Egyptian garrison, while the Turks called for reinforcements from Famagusta, which when they arrived, an important Battle was fought and which the Greeks won, as well as other Battles of the Revolution as well as important moments of 1821.
The exhibition will remain open until Saturday, April 05, 2025.
