The Municipality of Ayia Napa is hosting an important football event, as part of the events marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of PAOK Thessaloniki, welcoming the veteran football players of the historic team in a match with special symbolism and intense emotional character.
Following an official invitation from the Ayia Napa Municipal District, the veterans of PAOK Thessaloniki will face off in a friendly match with the veterans of the "Free Famagusta" Athletic Club, in a meeting that highlights the timeless ability of sports to cultivate bonds and unite people.
The mission will be in Ayia Napa from 17 to 21 March 2026, while the match will be held on Wednesday 18 March 2026, at 16:00 at the Ayia Napa Municipal Stadium "George Kastros". On the same day, the annual dinner of the "Free Famagusta" Sports Association will also take place at 19:30,
The match is under the auspices of the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, who said in a statement that "it is a special honor for Ayia Napa to host such an important football meeting in the context of PAOK's 100th anniversary.
"Sports," he added, "is a bridge of friendship, cooperation and solidarity, and through such initiatives we promote the values of fair play and strengthen our ties with historical clubs that carry memory, struggles and culture."
At the same time, Mr. Zannetou emphasized that the Municipality of Ayia Napa actively supports actions that promote sports and strengthen the cohesion of society, extending an open invitation to all football fans to watch the match and become part of a celebration that promises special moments and countless emotions.
