The distinguished Indian director Anjali Bhushan and representatives of the Bollywood film industry – Yantara Films were welcomed at Landa Beach by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannetou.
In his statements, the Mayor said "we were pleased to welcome to Ayia Napa the distinguished Indian director Anjali Bhushan and representatives of the Bollywood film industry - Yantara Films, in the context of exploring the prospects for utilizing the Famagusta Free Province as a destination for international film producers."
The Mayor said, "We welcomed her to the beautiful Lanta Beach, one of the most impressive beaches in Ayia Napa, where she had the opportunity to experience firsthand the crystal clear waters, the golden sand and the unique natural landscape of our area. During the visit, a presentation was made of the most important landmarks of our area, from Konnos to the Liopetriou River."
He added that “Ms. Bhushan was particularly impressed by the unique natural beauty, the diversity of landscapes, the coasts, the natural attractions and the possibilities offered by the area for high-quality film shooting. We discussed the prospects of cooperation with Bollywood producers, as well as the possibilities of hosting international producers who can contribute substantially to the promotion of our place to millions of viewers around the world. Our area has all the characteristics that modern film productions are looking for: unique natural scenery, easy access, modern tourist infrastructure and authentic experiences”.
According to the Mayor, as a Municipal Authority we continue to work with vision and extroversion, taking advantage of every opportunity that can enhance the recognition of our place and create new development prospects for the local economy and tourism. We are confident that this visit is the beginning of a promising collaboration and a new chapter of international visibility for our region.
