Cape Greco: 21-year-old injured after falling – Rescue operation

Immediate mobilization of the authorities of the Republic to rescue a young man who was injured after diving in the Sea Caves

KSED responded on Saturday afternoon to the rescue of a young man who had been injured in the sea caves of Cabo Greco after diving.

Specifically, today at 15:35 p.m., the Larnaca Police Department received information regarding a person in danger, in the location of Thalassines Spilies (Palathkia), in Kavo Greko.

The KSED immediately mobilized the Fire Service of the Famagusta Station, a speed boat of the Port and Maritime Police, a jet ski and personnel of the Lifeguard Team of the Provincial Administration of Famagusta as well as an ambulance of the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY).

The 21-year-old British man, who was injured due to the fall, was given first aid, stabilized on a stretcher and taken to Famagusta General Hospital.

On the occasion of this incident, KSED reminds the public that, according to a decision of the competent state services, approaching and diving at the point of the "sea caves" in Cape Greco are strictly prohibited, as according to an inspection by the Department of Geological Survey, the soil has been deemed dangerous due to increased erosion.
