The Ayia Napa marina clarifies about the fire that broke out on a boat this afternoon. As reported by the Chief Marina Officer, Costas Phytiris, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at around 18:40 p.m., a 15-meter-long Ukrainian-owned pleasure boat requested permission to enter the Ayia Napa Marina, but upon entering it was found by the Marina control center that there was smoke and evidence of fire inside the vessel.

Immediately the boat was isolated and all on board were rescued by the Marina staff. An anti-fouling net was placed around the vessel so that other vessels would not be endangered and the Marina and Coastal Police personnel began extinguishing the vessel until the arrival of the Fire Service.

The local Fire Station responded with three vehicles and twelve firefighters. The fire inside the vessel had already spread due to the vessel's flammable construction materials and fuel.
Despite the enormous and honorable effort of the Fire Service and the Marina staff, the boat was completely destroyed.

The accident is being investigated by the Fire Service and the Coastal Police.
