Ayia Napa is preparing to welcome a great artistic event that combines tradition with modern artistic creation. From 19 to 21 September 2025, the heart of the city will beat in the Central Square "Georgos Seferis" and in its cultural spaces, the "Georgos Seferis" Cultural Center and the "THALASSA" Municipal Museum on the occasion of the "Days of Ceramic Art and Clay".
The Municipality of Ayia Napa, in collaboration with the Association of Potters and Ceramists and the "Aroma" Association of Friends of the Ayia Napa Sculpture Park, present for the first time an event that aspires to highlight the timeless value of ceramic art, opening paths of acquaintance with both its rich tradition and its modern directions.
The curtain will rise on Friday, September 19, 2025 at six in the afternoon with the official opening of the Ceramic Art Exhibition at the "Georgos Seferis" Cultural Center. The exhibition will host important works by Cypriot creators who, with clay and fire, transform the raw material into a work of art of unique value and aesthetics.
On Saturday, September 20, 2025 at eleven in the morning at the Ayia Napa Municipal Museum "THALASSA", the documentary by Paschalis Papapetrou entitled "Cypriot Medieval Glazed Pottery" will be screened, while immediately afterwards Dr. Dimitra Papanikola - Bakirtzi will present her lecture on "Byzantine Glazed Pottery: The Technique of Engraving", illuminating aspects of the history and technique that sealed ceramic art in the Hellenistic era.
At the same time, experiential workshops and demonstrations will be held in the Central Square throughout the events. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe and participate in pottery wheel techniques, see the creation of large works in real time, watch the live construction of sculptures, and learn about the unique technique of Raku.
Special clay workshops for children and adults will give young and old the opportunity to experiment with clay and feel the joy of creating with their own hands. A Handmade Ceramics Market will also operate as part of the events, where visitors will be able to purchase authentic works of art, directly supporting the creators.
The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, stated that everything is ready to welcome the public to this great cultural event. As he mentioned, with the “Days of Ceramic Art and Clay” Ayia Napa highlights its rich cultural heritage, giving the opportunity to residents and visitors to participate experientially in an art that connects the past with the present. “Ayia Napa proves once again that it is a center of culture, creation and tradition,” he noted.
From September 19 to 21, 2025, Ayia Napa will be flooded with clay, color, inspiration and creation, in a three-day celebration dedicated to ceramic art that promises to give the public experiences, images and memories that will remain indelible.
