The THALASSA Municipal Museum in Ayia Napa was transformed into a living world of mystery, exploration, theater and imagination on the evening of Tuesday, August 25, through the original experiential action "A Night at the THALASSA Museum - The Legend of the Sea".
The action, which took place for the first time in a museum in Cyprus, with the significant contribution of the PICOLO Theatre and Marina Protopapa, who contributed with their creativity and theatrical approach to shaping the special experience, as well as with the sponsorship support of the Honor Frost Foundation, enabled children and parents to experience the museum space in a completely different way, far from the conventional tour and simple observation of the exhibits.
Guided by imagination and starring the children themselves, THALASSA was transformed into a vast field of exploration. The little “explorers” searched for clues, followed clues, collaborated, solved puzzles and participated in an interactive adventure, discovering the “Legend of the Sea”. The theatrical dimension of the action gave even greater liveliness to the experience, with the Museum’s spaces taking on a different character and the children becoming part of a story that unfolded before them.
The audience response was particularly warm. The children participated with enthusiasm, while parents had the opportunity to share with them a unique experience that combined entertainment with knowledge and cultural education.
The success of the action highlighted the importance of creating new ways of approaching the public and, in particular, children. The museum is no longer limited to the role of a space where the visitor observes exhibits. It can become a space of action, play, discovery and participation, creating a more meaningful relationship between children and cultural heritage and maritime history. Through this philosophy, the THALASSA Municipal Museum seeks to continue developing actions that bring the museum closer to society and create a new generation of visitors who do not just see the museum, but live it.
The THALASSA Municipal Museum also expresses its warm thanks to the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, for his long-standing support and practical interest in the Museum and its activities.
Above all, however, he thanks the children and parents who participated and brought the evening to life. Because the greatest success of such an event is not measured only by the number of visitors. It is measured by the smiles of the children, their enthusiasm and the memories they take with them when they leave. And that evening, THALASSA was filled with them. It was filled with life.
