Police are now investigating a murder case after 47-year-old Kyriakos Hadjisavvas lost his battle for life, four days after the death ambush set up by unknown individuals in an apartment complex in Ayia Napa.

Hadjisavvas had been hospitalized since early Sunday morning in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital with a bullet to the head, and doctors determined that he was brain dead after failing to pass the tests for disconnection from the mechanical support.

The businessman's family gave their consent for organ donation and a few hours ago the process of disconnecting him was completed.

In his statements to KYPE, Giorgos Oikonomou, Assistant Police Director of Famagusta, stated that "the police investigations are continuing to investigate the case, various suspects are being interrogated, closed monitoring circuits have been anything that will lead to the perpetrators of the attempt, however so far there is nothing positive ".

He added that "more light in the case is expected to shed light on the legal autopsy on the body to be performed by medical examiners. "According to the forensic examination, there were some metal fragments in Hadjisavva's brain and it is expected that the autopsy may show the type of weapon used for the assassination attempt against him."

It is recalled that around five in the morning of Sunday, October 22, 2017, information was received at the Ayia Napa Police Station about the existence of an injured person in the ground floor parking lot of an apartment complex located on Tefkrou Anthia Street in Ayia Napa.

Members of the Famagusta Police Department and the Ayia Napa Police Station went to the scene and found a person with a gunshot wound to the head in a pool of blood on the ground. Police investigations revealed that the injured is Kyriakos Hadjisavvas, 47 years old from Ayia Napa, who was next to his car, in the parking lot of the apartment complex where he lived.

Hadjisavvas was transported by ambulance to the TAEP of the General Hospital of Famagusta, however because his health condition was judged by the treating doctors to be extremely critical, he was transferred to the General Hospital of Nicosia.

It is noted that an assassination attempt was made against Kyriakos Hadjisavva in 2008 again in Ayia Napa. The case is being investigated by the Famagusta TAE.
