At the presentation of the historical album of the "Evagoras" Famagusta Gymnastics Association (GSE), entitled "GSE - 120 Years in the Ramparts", which took place recently at a hotel in the area, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, was present and delivered a speech.
In his greeting, Mr. Zannetou stated that the album constitutes a great legacy, which captures with respect, emotion and historical responsibility the 120 years of progress, contribution and resistance of the historical Association of Famagusta.
As he added, this is not just a work of sports retrospective, but a hymn to the soul of the city; a valuable document of memory and cultural continuity, as well as an essential tool for new generations to learn about, be inspired by and continue the struggle.
The Mayor of Ayia Napa pointed out that the GSE is not just a sports club, but a symbol of memory, identity and hope; a timeless institution that continues to inspire, unite and keep alive the vision of return.
We deeply believe, he continued, "that it is the duty of all of us to support every effort aimed at preserving our national identity and survival - until our long-awaited return to the Capital, Famagusta."
During the event, the honorary recognition of three prominent personalities – Pavlos Pavlakis, Antonis Papadopoulos and Moses Mantzalos – for their long-standing contribution to the GSE, who were declared honorary presidents, caused particular emotion.
Finally, he expressed his warm congratulations to the President and all members of the GSE for the excellent work and dedication they demonstrated in the implementation of this important publication.
