The Municipality of Ayia Napa, in collaboration with the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies and the Petrondas Modern Greek Studies Center of the University of Cyprus, is organizing the 7th Seferis Symposium, within the framework of the "Seferis Days" institution, which will take place from 7 to 9 November 2025, at the Ayia Napa Cultural Center "George Seferis".
The Symposium will open on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 18:00 p.m., at the same venue. The Symposium is under the auspices of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, a fact that underlines the importance of the institution for the cultural and intellectual events of the country.
On the occasion of the organization of the 7th Seferis Symposium, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, stated that "the Seferis Symposium has now been established as an important scientific and cultural institution for the Municipality of Ayia Napa, which brings together academics, researchers, students and friends of literature, with the aim of studying and highlighting the work and intellectual legacy of George Seferis, the first Greek Nobel Prize laureate in Literature.
"We feel proud," he added, "that our city is one of the areas of Cyprus that the poet particularly loved and was a source of his inspiration." "Therefore," he noted, "as a small tribute to our Nobel Prize-winning Poet, we will continue to consistently highlight his work and his timeless relationship with Cyprus and Ayia Napa through this important event."
