The Municipality of Ayia Napa is hosting, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute and the Municipality of Famagusta, the conference "Mesolongi - Famagusta: From heroic passion to poetic creation", which will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 08:30, in the event hall of Ayia Napa Town Hall.
The conference will be attended and addressed by His Beatitude Archbishop George of Nea Ioustiniani and all Cyprus, the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Dr. Athena Michaelidou, the President of the Scientific Committee Professor Dimitris Angelatos, the Deputy Mayor of the Holy City of Messolonghi Mr. Christos Tegas, the Mayor of the Municipality of Famagusta Dr. Simos Ioannou and the Mayor of the Municipality of Ayia Napa Mr. Christos Zannetou.
In his statement, Mayor Christos Zannetou said that "through this event we honor the historical memories and rich cultural heritage of the two heroic cities and highlight the way that history inspires literary and poetic creation."
