The students of the Alexandroupolis Model Vocational High School and their teachers, who are in Cyprus as part of the Erasmus program, were hosted by the Municipality of Ayia Napa on Friday, April 04, 2025.
Specifically, they visited the Famagusta Cultural Center in Deryneia, where they gazed at enslaved Famagusta from the observatory and were briefed by a Member of the Municipal Council and an official of the Municipality of Famagusta.
They then went to the Municipal District of Achna where they were welcomed at the central offices of the Municipal District of Achna by the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Nikos Vasilas, who informed them about occupied Achna, about the theme park, the area where over seventy thousand refugees were hosted in tents after the 1974 war, about the refugee tent monument and about the Monument to the Heroes of Achna.
Present at the tour were the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, and the Deputy Mayor of the Sotira Municipality, Mr. Antonis Koumis. Afterwards, they all went together to the Achna Forest event hall and attended the event – a tribute to Kyriakos Hadjiioannou.
