Ayia Napa's Nissi Beach has been named the "best beach in Europe" according to the European Beach Index 2024, compiled by travel insurance experts Quotezone.co.uk.
According to the relevant announcement, nissi beach was awarded for its blue-green waters, its "golden" sand and the warm temperatures of the sea and the air.

The official of the Famagusta Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP), Giorgos Kavkalias told us that "for the last few years, Nissi Beach is every year in the ten best beaches in Europe on trip advisor, based on the reviews of the visitors". He noted that this distinction is special because it comes from an expert evaluation committee that took into account specific criteria.
Mr. Kavkalias mentioned that the province of Famagusta has 35 beaches with blue flags for 2024, which are the most in Cyprus. It seems that in recent years a good job is being done in terms of upgrading and maintaining the beaches of the area. The services provided are being upgraded and will continue to be upgraded.
