In a particularly special event that took place on the evening of Sunday, March 09, 2025, at the packed Municipal Theater "George Lykourgos", the digital album of the Municipal Choir of Avgorou in collaboration with Kimonas Xylotympos "My roots are holding up well" was presented in collaboration with the choir of the Municipal District of Avgorou of the Municipality of Ayia Napa, in which the well-known Greek songwriter Miltos Paschalidis participated and was held under the auspices of the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou.
As the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, stated in his greeting, "this is an exceptional effort that connects music with our cultural heritage, art and tradition, highlighting the traditions and roots that shape us as a society, while offering a unique opportunity to discover and honor our cultural roots."
Undoubtedly, he added, "this album is not just an artistic-musical production, but also a symbol of the power that our traditions have to unite us, move us and remind us of our history and is a journey through time, reminding us of the values and traditions that define our identity."
Our "roots", he continued, are what guide us and inspire us to move forward with respect for the values of the past, while at the same time encouraging us to look to the future with optimism. Through the notes and lyrics, the power of our cultural wealth and the importance of preserving our roots are highlighted, which, as the title of the album proves, "hold up well".
Mr. Zannettou congratulated the performers for their excellent work, for the love and dedication they show for our place and its music, as well as for their contribution to the preservation of our tradition and cultural heritage, while assuring that the Municipality of Ayia Napa, realizing their invaluable value, will support efforts that promote and bridge the past with the future.
