Strange kidnapping case in Ayia Napa

Kidnapping ABDUCTION, Nea Famagusta, TAE Famagusta

A strange case of abduction of a 25-year-old man from Pakistan in Ayia Napa was brought before the authorities after a complaint made by a 51-year-old woman from Romania.

It was twenty minutes after midnight on Monday when the 51-year-old called the Police to report that she received a phone call from her 25-year-old friend who informed her that while he was in Ayia Napa Square he was abducted by two people.

It was, as he told her, about two people from India, who had disputes in the past and who grabbed him and put him in their car by force and headed in an unknown direction. From examinations that were carried out, the investigations focused on locating a specific vehicle, while the various patrols and the roadblocks were informed.

An hour and a half later, at 1:50 in the morning, the 25-year-old contacted the 51-year-old again and told her that he was locked in a place unknown to him, while reassuring her that he would be back soon.

The next day at one o'clock in the afternoon, the 51-year-old called the Famagusta TAE to inform that the young man contacted her again and told her that he was being taken to Nicosia to an unknown place.

At some point during the day, the woman from Romania informed the Police that the 25-year-old had returned to their home.

Meanwhile, at 2 in the afternoon, the Police had proceeded to arrest a 25-year-old Indian, at the moment when he was trying to cross on foot from the roadblock in Ledra to the occupied areas. The young man was arrested as he appears to be the person to whom the suspicious vehicle belonged.

The 25-year-old Indian was denied any involvement, a fact that was confirmed after the release of his peer from Pakistan, who, among other things, told the authorities that the suspicious vehicle was not involved in the case.

TAE Famagusta is investigating the case.
