The workshop on the preparation of traditional syrupy sweets was successfully held on Friday, March 6, 2026, in the courtyard of the Ayia Napa Farmhouse, as part of the Winter Traditional Activities Program implemented by the Ayia Napa Municipality.

Participants had the opportunity to observe up close the process of preparing traditional Cypriot syrupy sweets, such as purekia and pisiiés, learning the secrets of the local gastronomic tradition and tasting authentic flavors of Cypriot cuisine.
The workshop attracted the interest of foreign visitors staying in Ayia Napa during the winter season, who actively participated in the process and had the opportunity to come into direct contact with Cypriot culture and hospitality.

Also present at the event were the students and teachers of the Third Vocational High School of Ioannina from Greece, who are currently in Cyprus as part of the European Erasmus program. The students participated enthusiastically in the event, learning firsthand about elements of Cypriot gastronomy and local tradition through an authentic experiential experience.

The action was held on the occasion of International Women's Day (March 8), highlighting the important role of women in preserving and passing on the Cypriot culinary tradition from generation to generation.

The Ayia Napa Municipality's Winter Traditional Activities Program aims to creatively engage visitors who choose the city for a long-term stay during the winter months, offering them the opportunity to experience firsthand the customs, traditions and rich folk culture of Cyprus.
