The steps of the new, modern and fully equipped Public/Community Kindergarten and Nursery School of Ayia Napa were filled today, Monday - its first day of operation - with infants and toddlers aged from six months to preschool age.
The new Director, Ms. Evi Isaac, the staff and the children were welcomed to the new building by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, and the Deputy Mayor of Ayia Napa Municipality, Mr. Antonis Christou, in the presence of the architect of the project, Mr. Vasilis Ieridis, as well as members of the Kindergarten Parents' Association.
The new building was erected based on the most modern specifications and in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Culture. It has classrooms, offices, a kitchen, a dining room, bedrooms, storage areas, a closed hall, as well as comfortable parking spaces. Particular emphasis was given to the courtyard, which is spacious, ultra-modern and will be equipped with environmentally friendly toys. At the same time, it includes a closed multi-purpose hall, which can also operate autonomously. All spaces were designed with safety, comfort, adequate natural and artificial lighting in mind, creating an ideal environment for the development and creative employment of children.
In his statements, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, said that "today is a particularly happy day for our Municipality, as we welcome infants and toddlers to our new Nursery and Kindergarten. This is a groundbreaking project, which creates a safe, beautiful and functional environment for our children, offering them the first foundations of education, socialization and creative play.
"As a Local Authority," he said, "we understand the changes taking place in the labor market and the increased demands of the tourism industry, and for this reason we actively support working parents, providing them with quality care services for their children. We are investing in the future of Ayia Napa and in our citizens of tomorrow."
He also expressed his warm wishes to everyone for a Happy New Year, full of health and prosperity, assuring that the Municipality of Ayia Napa will continue to stand by and support any problems or needs that may arise.
