A written announcement of the Municipality states that "the selection of Ayia Napa for the specific races became possible after a meeting that the Deputy Mayor of Ayia Napa Antonis Christou had with the champion of Paramotor Bruno Vezzoli".
It adds that "70 pilots from all over the world are taking part in the races, who in addition to the races will participate in night flights during the 16th Medieval Festival that will take place from 9 to 16 October. The ultimate goal of the organizers is for the 2022 races to be held again in Ayia Napa with the participation of the pilots to exceed 160 ".
The Deputy Mayor of Ayia Napa stated that "the holding of such a sporting event is very important for the Municipality, since in addition to stimulating the tourist season, it will promote our city abroad. We will continue to support such initiatives aimed at extending the tourist season, upgrading our tourism product and establishing Ayia Napa as a venue for major sporting events. "
