Michalis Papadopoulos' play "It's all the Congolese's fault" directed by Alexia Papalazarou, which is performed on the stage of the "Antilogos" Theatre, is presented on Wednesday, February 26, by the "Trimino of Theatrical Performances" program of the Municipality of Ayia Napa.
"It's All the Congolese's Fault" is a play that deals, often with humor, with all these "small" crimes of gender-based violence, the toxic "stain", the extreme sexism, which are legitimized through their characterization as part of the "feminine" role and which all women are called upon to play every day. The play reveals all that society, the system, forces girls to "wear", as part of the choreography of their gender, in order to exonerate patriarchal abusive behaviors and the exploitation of women.
A few words about the project's premise:
A woman in Exarchia walks her dog and comes face to face with her reflection in the window of a convenience store. Soon, this daily walk will turn into a "journey" of awareness of a painful reality, a journey of understanding her own path and the countless incidents of daily abuse she endures.
The heroine of the play does not do anything different from any other woman: she is a girl who fell in love, a woman who got married, built a house, gave birth, and who "christened" her life with the duty of serving "underground" the Man and the system.
