The Municipality of Ayia Napa presents on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 20:00 PM, at the Ayia Napa Municipal Theater, as part of the Quarterly Theater Performances, the play by Palestinian writer Dalia Taha "Keffiyeh / Made in China", which is presented for the first time in Greek by the AntiLogos Theater, directed by Eleni Anastasiou.
Dalia Taha creates a collage of human stories, a modular work with small vignettes that cover all phases of life in a war zone. Heartbreaking, sometimes humorous, everyday moments in which ordinary people are confronted with decades of oppression, displacement and attempted annihilation.
A mother and father, despite their financial hardship, buy mangoes for their son. A newlywed couple wait in line to pass through a checkpoint. An older rebel admonishes a young soldier about his role. A couple seeks intimacy on a night without the kids. A local craft shop owner tries to sell a scarf as a fashion item to a young, sensitive tourist. Two young men talk about their encounter that was captured on a viral execution video. Parents discuss decorating a child's room in a destroyed city.
The play was presented at the Royal Flemish Theatre, Brussels, in 2012 and then toured Palestinian cities in the West Bank. The author is known for her moving plays that delve into the daily lives of people in conflict zones, especially in Palestine. Her plays penetrate emotion and its intensity, while at the same time conveying the human experience of siege, war and extermination. At the same time, she illuminates the historical and everyday aspect of the Palestinian issue, which is a timeless and systemic problem and which today takes on other dimensions, those of extermination and genocide.
