With intra-school celebrations, a torchlight procession from the Schools, the Band of the Ayia Napa Municipal District / Church of Panagia Ayia Napa, Organized Ensembles and Doxology at the Holy Church of Panagia Ayia Napa, the Ayia Napa Municipal District commemorates the Anniversary of the Beginning of the Liberation Struggle 1955-59.
The intra-school celebrations of Ayia Napa Primary School – “Antonis Tsokkos” will take place on Monday, March 31st at 11:00 pm in the School’s event hall.
On the same day, at 7:00 pm in Heroes' Square, the flag raising, trisagion and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the busts of Heroes Loukas A. Loukas, Giannakis Pappoullis and Christakis Christou Pieris.
At 7.30 pm, a torchlight procession will follow from Organized Ensembles along Makariou Avenue to the Port roundabout, ending at the busts of the heroes. The torchlight procession will be attended by the band of the Ayia Napa Municipal Council/Church of Panagia Ayia Napa, the student youth and representatives of organized ensembles of the Ayia Napa Municipal Council with their banners and flags.
On the day of the Anniversary, Tuesday, April 1st, a Doxology will be held at the Church of Panagia Agia Napa at 8:30 a.m., where the Day's Feast will be recited by Mr. Konstantinos Koumis, Director of the KIE of Kokkinochoria.
After the Doxology, the Band of the Ayia Napa Municipal District / Church of Panagia Ayia Napa will take part in the District parade, organized by the Sotiras Municipal District - Municipality of Ayia Napa along Makariou Avenue, at 11:00 a.m.
