Three dance groups were created in the Ayia Napa Municipal District, following the great response that was noted during the event recently organized by the Ayia Napa Municipality entitled "Introduction Day for the Creation of a Dance Group in the Ayia Napa Municipal District".
The event, which took place in a particularly warm and enthusiastic atmosphere, was a great success and highlighted the intense interest of the citizens in dance and our folk tradition. As a result, three dance groups were formed – two for adults and one for children – which will operate under the auspices of the Municipality of Ayia Napa.
The guidance and training of the groups is undertaken by experienced dance teacher Marios Patsias, who will contribute with his expertise and love for traditional dance to the proper learning and promotion of our cultural heritage.
The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, expressed his great satisfaction for the participation and interest of citizens, emphasizing that "Ayia Napa is not only an international tourist destination, but also a place with deep roots in tradition and culture.
"The creation of the dance groups," he added, "fills us with pride, because we see the local community actively participating, collaborating and maintaining the values and morals that characterize us."
For his part, the Deputy Mayor of the Ayia Napa Municipal District, Mr. Antonis Christou, thanked everyone who responded to the Municipality's call, emphasizing that "the warm participation of young and old proved that there is a thirst for culture, expression and creation.
"The Municipality and the Municipal Department will actively stand by the dance groups, supporting every effort that strengthens the cohesion and cultural life of Ayia Napa," concluded Mr. Antonis Christou.
Rehearsals for the new dance groups will begin soon, with the aim of their participation in events and festivals that promote our culture and folk tradition.
