The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, today, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, awarded the honorary distinction of "Tourism Ambassador" to the British Mark James and Caroline Perryment, on the occasion of their 25th consecutive visit to the city.
The couple was honored at a special ceremony in the reception area of the Municipal Hall, where they were awarded a commemorative plaque and the official emblem of the Ambassador of Tourism.
During the award ceremony, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, expressed his warm thanks to the couple Mark James and Caroline Perryment for their long-standing, consistent and sincere preference for Ayia Napa as a tourist destination. He emphasized the crucial role they play in promoting and promoting the town’s tourism profile, both in the United Kingdom and internationally, contributing substantially to the enhancement of the extroversion and reputation of the area.
Mr. Zannetou informed them about the recent changes in Local Government, within the framework of the broader reform, noting that the new Municipality of Ayia Napa now includes four more areas, Sotira, Achna, Liopetri and Avgorou. He emphasized that the honor given to the couple represents the respect and gratitude of the enlarged Municipality towards the people who love and support the city over time.
As he characteristically stated, the couple “advocates and promotes Ayia Napa in the most practical, direct and authentic way.” He added that, after so many visits, Mark James and Caroline Perryment are no longer considered mere visitors, but active members of the local community – almost citizens of Ayia Napa.
