Low water inflow into Larnaca and Famagusta dams

Water inflow remains low compared to the corresponding period last year

The inflow of water into the Larnaca and Famagusta dams remains low compared to the corresponding period last year, despite the inflow of a significant amount of water in the last three days due to the rainfall that was recorded.

According to yesterday's measurement on March 23, carried out by the Water Development Department, the water quantities in the Kalavasos dam have a capacity of 17,100 million cubic meters of water. In the last 3 days, there was an inflow of 0,182 million cubic meters of water, with the total inflow of water from October 1, 2025 reaching 1,064 million cubic meters of water. Regarding the stored quantity of water in this dam, it amounts to 1,432 million cubic meters of water with the fullness reaching 8,4%. In the corresponding period last year, it was 4,726 million cubic meters of water with the fullness reaching 27,6%.

The Lefkara dam has a capacity of 13,850 million cubic meters of water. In the last 3 days, there was an inflow of 0,205 million cubic meters of water, with the total inflow of water since October 1, 2025 reaching 0,732 million cubic meters of water. Regarding the stored amount of water in this dam, it amounts to 1,702 million cubic meters of water with the fullness reaching 12,3%. In the corresponding period last year, it was 4,011 million cubic meters of water with the fullness reaching 29%.

The Dipotamos Dam has a capacity of 15,500 million cubic meters of water. In the last 3 days, there was an inflow of 0,180 million cubic meters of water, with the total inflow of water since October 1, 2025 reaching 1,461 million cubic meters of water. Regarding the stored amount of water in this dam, it amounts to 4,009 million cubic meters of water with the fullness reaching 25,9%. In the corresponding period last year, it was 5,556 million cubic meters of water with the fullness reaching 35,8%.

The Achna Dam in the Famagusta Free Province has a capacity of 6,800 million cubic meters of water. There has been no water inflow in the last 3 days, nor has there been any water inflow since October 1, 2025. Regarding the stored amount of water in this dam, it amounts to 0,142 million cubic meters of water with a fullness of 2,1%. In the corresponding period last year, it was 1,375 million cubic meters of water with a fullness of 20,2%.
