Second and .. last term of Onoufrios Koullas in the Parliament

The Member of Parliament for Famagusta with DISY Onoufrios Koullas, announced a while ago in a post that he is going through his second and last term as an MP.

As he states, he never considered politics as a profession but as a bulwark for offering, adding that he considers that 10 years in an office is good.

Referring to his announcement of how he made the decision to enter politics, he states that his guiding light remains what he said in his campaign speeches 5 years ago: "My personal ambition is not just to enter politics, if you choose me, but to be able to come out with my head held high ".

In closing, Mr. Koullas thanked the people for their support, noting that he will do everything to justify the trust in his person.

My friends,

I have always believed that 10 years in an office is good. That is what I was saying from the beginning, this is what I am saying now. And I will keep it. Staying grounded, I say this is my second and last five years. I never thought that politics is a profession but it was and remains a bulwark for supply.

5 years ago I made a life decision. Consciously and with a strong disposition for an offer, I had decided to leave forever a quiet, very promising and secured life of civil service (at the Ministry of Finance), at the age of 41, and to enter a difficult, painful and demanding arena. I had not listened to those who "advised" me to become at least 55 years old and then to claim.

For the last 5 years I think that I have worked with zeal and dedication, with passion and selflessness, giving every effort, for policies that concerned the common man, my province and what I believed was for the benefit of our place. All this time I felt the weight of the responsibility to represent all of you with competence, ethics and honesty. I hope I did it. I feel the same burden of responsibility today.

We have 5 new difficult years ahead of us. The demands of the times are great. Let us hope that God will give me the strength, health and patience to meet again the huge demands and responsibilities I have taken on again.

My friends,

I will continue to work hard, with the same zeal, for all those policies for the benefit of society as a whole. Timely and close to the decision-making centers, with arguments, study and proper preparation.

My guiding light remains what I said in my campaign speeches 5 years ago: "My personal ambition is not just to get into politics, if you choose me, but to be able to come out with my head held high."

Wherever I am in the (unknown) future I will be the same person. And I will have the same principles and values. And I will fight for them, with or without an office or position.
