Increase of cases in football - 6 from contacts of Ethnikos Achnas, 1 case in Anagennisi Deryneia

Seventeen new cases of the disease COVID-19 were detected in Cyprus from a total of 2.454 laboratory diagnoses, as announced by the authorities on Thursday. Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 1.772.

Of the 17 cases, 5 were detected during the tracking. Specifically, two people are contacts from the family environment of the case that was announced on September 29 from tracking and is related to a case of National Acne. One in two attends school. The third person is from the family environment that was announced on September 29 from the tracing of the contacts of another case that was announced on September 27. The fourth person is a contact of the case that was announced on September 28 through the sampling control of Larnaca and worked in a Bank of the Province of Larnaca. The fifth person is a contact of his footballer National Acne.

Two other cases were detected by flight passengers. One person came from Athens to Larnaca on September 30th. The second person came from Riga to Larnaca on 29 September.

Also, five cases arose from a private initiative. The 1st person is a football player in ASIL Lysis. On September 27, in a test they did due to a positive case found in the team, he had a negative result and repeated it privately yesterday. The second person is also a football player at ASIL Lysis and a student at a private school in Larnaca. Due to his contact with the other virus positive people in the group he did not go to school in the last few days. In the test they did on September 27, he was negative, while on September 30, he repeated the test due to symptoms (fever and headache). The third person did the examination privately due to symptoms from September 25 (fever, myalgias, loss of taste). The fourth person did the test privately because he has asthma. Reported loss of taste today. The fifth person underwent the examination privately due to symptoms from September 24 (weakness).

Also, 4 cases were identified by the sampling of 3.000 people in Larnaca District. One person is a high school student in Larnaca District. Two people are contacts from the family environment of a case that was announced on September 29 and has contact with a person of National Acne. As they mentioned, they had not seen their contact and they did the examination in the sampler. The fourth person is from the family case environment from him National Achnas. He also states that he did not see him in the previous days before he was identified as positive.

A case was identified by the KOP program and it is Curator of the Renaissance of Deryneia.

In addition, in relation to today's reports about the non-operation of a private school in the Limassol District on Friday, it is clarified that no person who studies or works there has been identified, but there is a person who is in contact with a confirmed incident.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, based on the information received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, the virus-positive individuals emerged as follows:

Out of 449 samples taken through private initiative, 5 cases were identified.
Out of 173 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 5 cases were identified.
Out of 232 samples taken as part of the sampling laboratory test of 3.000 people in Larnaca District, 4 cases were identified.
Out of 588 samples taken as part of the passenger and repatriate control, 2 cases were identified.
Out of 382 samples taken as part of the sampling carried out by the KOP in Associations participating in its events, 1 case was identified.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:

From samples taken within the program of referrals by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 134 laboratory examinations were completed,
From samples taken under the immigration structure control program, 49 laboratory diagnoses were performed,
From samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 197 laboratory tests were performed, and
From samples taken under the control program of students, teachers and school staff, 250 laboratory diagnoses were completed.

In addition, the Famagusta General Hospital treats 11 people positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, four of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit. An intubated patient is treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.
