A project that started in early November and has now been completed, sends us a shocking message, aimed at raising environmental awareness.
The Municipality of Deryneia utilized a water tank, which was built in 1979, with the aim of rehabilitating the refugee settlement and the planning of the wider area in general. They completed the project, he told us: “Renovation works are being carried out in the refugee settlement of the Municipality of Deryneia. The old water tank, dating from 1979, is a part of the works that the Municipality of Deryneia beautifully considered, that it can now have various uses. Its vertical surfaces were a canvas for the artistic intervention on the theme of water ".
The design chosen depicts the seabed and consequently nature. They have painted a seabed, with everything that surrounds it, such as fish, whales, water lilies, etc. It results in a painting with two boatmen, who coexist with the life of the sea, without interfering with each other, always with respect.
"So we made human hands take care of the earth, sending the loud message that we as a human species must respect our 'home', that which hosts us."
The group "Ta Lympiana", consists of people who paint in their village, Lympia, trying to raise awareness of the villagers, to feel the responsibility and care of public space.
"We are glad that they are now calling us from other villages, to leave our touch in their own public spaces," says Pavlina.
