Last year, the initiative group for the Public Health of the Citizens of Deryneia prevented the replacement of a mobile phone antenna in their municipality.
In a Facebook post, a member of the initiative said that the members of the initiative approached the people who tried to install the antenna and were asked to present the relevant permits, which, as he claims, they did not have with them.
As a result, the installation crew left the site.
According to the post, "the tragedy is that the initiative group recently met with the Mayor and the Municipal Council to express the citizens' strong concerns about the erratic placement of the antennas, while delivering the relevant memorandum of the committee".
It is recalled that at the end of September, the members of the initiative, had complained that there are houses located near a mobile phone antenna, in which two cases of cancer were observed.
As mentioned then, in Deryneia there are around 12 mobile telephony antennas, while only in the center of the town, which is densely populated, there are six, at a distance of less than 100 meters.
