The School Ephorate expressed its intense concern about the possibility of losing land that was expropriated for the construction of a Lyceum in Deryneia in a meeting held with AKEL Famagusta MP Nikos Kettiros.
The president and the members of the School Ephorate stressed that the overpopulation of the Lyceums of the area justifies the construction of a new Lyceum and the land that has been expropriated since 2002 next to the High School of Peace and Freedom must be used for this purpose.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Mayor of Deryneia, Andros Karagiannis, the serious and pressing problems of the schools in the Municipality of Deryneia and the need to immediately find solutions were also raised.
Among them is the need to build multipurpose rooms in the A 'and B' Primary School of the Municipality in which there is no closed space for group activities and events. The two projects, although they had been wheeled in the past with the preparation of a master plan and expropriation of land, remained in the drawers of the Ministry.
AKEL MP Nikos Kettiros conveyed to the members of the school board the unwavering support of AKEL in the requests whose satisfaction is an insurmountable need for the smooth operation of schools and the upgrading of the quality of education provided.
In a telephone conversation he had with the competent Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. Costas Hambiaouris, Mr. Nikos Kettiros has already arranged a meeting with him in the immediate future for the further promotion of the issues raised during the meeting.
