The Municipal District of Deryneia announces that this year, on Clean Monday, 23.2.2026, the public will be able to venture into nature next to the Byzantine chapel of Agia Marina in the Dead Zone, renovated by the Department of Antiquities, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., following approval of its request to the United Nations.
All visitors are requested to comply with the United Nations' instructions and to limit themselves to the area around the chapel. Movement to the north side of the chapel is prohibited. Private vehicles will be allowed to enter the area up to a point to be determined by the United Nations. We kindly ask that the area be left clean after departure.
The chapel will remain open for pilgrimage, while excursionists will have the opportunity to rejoice and enjoy the magnificent nature with Famagusta as a backdrop.
Photography and filming are prohibited within the Dead Zone. The use of drones or any other flying machine is also prohibited.
