The massacre of Pertzaina in the area of the Deryneia roadblock is unknown to many. Former MP Nikos Koutsou, whose father is buried there, gave a shocking testimony about this on the Sigma TV show "Protoselido".
The massacre in Pervolina, Pertzaina, took place on August 17, 1974. At that time, 30 Greek Cypriots were arrested, whose fate is still unknown.
The father of former MP Nikos Koutsos remains missing. He was 50 years old, a car driver. He was returning after an announcement by RIK that Famagusta was free. He went there with the two half-siblings of the former MP.
"Many saw Greek Cypriots being led to execution. In those days I was in the army, in the area of Agios Pavlos. I didn't know anything. I learned them later. Along with my father, on the day of my arrest, there were two of my brothers. One died and the other lives in Tersefanou. While they were being executed, the children were saved from the intervention of some. The big ones were killed. No one knows where they are buried. Recently, some people sent letters saying that in the pergola, there are several buried ", said Mr. Koutsou on the front page.
"There had to be a condition that in order to open the Deryneia roadblock, they would have to allow an investigation. It is difficult to have the bones of people who fought for the area and to open the roadblocks by people who were just passing by the area ", added Mr. Koutsou", he added.
