The Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that, as of 06/09/2023, the works of replacing obsolete signaling equipment by a private company at 33 light-controlled intersections and 12 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings in the wider area of Larnaca and Famagusta have begun, with new type of low consumption (Extra Low Voltage-ELV) with LED lamps, Pedestrian Countdown system and touch type demand system for pedestrians.
The equipment replacement work at each point will be completed within a day – barring unforeseen circumstances – and during the work the light-controlled junctions and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service. If necessary, temporary traffic lights will be installed.
During the week of 11/12/2023 – 17/12/2023, works will be carried out at junctions/pedestrian crossings:
