TEVEA presentation to President Anastasiadis for sending financial aid to Lebanon

A letter to the President of the Republic was sent by the Board of Directors of the Famagusta Tourism, Commercial and Industrial Company.

In the letter, they inform about the suggestion of the member of the Board, Savva Kosi, for sending the financial aid of five million euros in kind and in products in an effort to stimulate the Cypriot economy.

The letter is communicated to the Secretary of the Council of Ministers, Theodosi Tsiolas, to the Minister of Finance, Konstantinos Petridis, and to the Commissioner for Volunteering and Non-Profit Organizations, Giannakis Giannakis.

The letter is as follows:

Your Excellency, President

Subject: Suggestion on sending financial aid to Lebanon

We are communicating with you on the above subject to convey to you the suggestion of our member Mr. Savvas Kosios regarding the sending of financial aid to Lebanon, due to the consequences of the huge disaster that was recently caused in Beirut.

First of all, we would like to congratulate you on your initiative and your immediate response to send aid to the neighboring and friendly people of Lebanon. Such actions highlight the values and philanthropy of the Cypriot Hellenism, especially in this difficult period for all humanity.

Exactly because of the consequences facing the economy of our country, we invite you to consider the proposal of Mr. Savvas Kosis for the form of aid of five million euros that the Republic of Cyprus has committed to send. Specifically, we believe that part of this assistance could be sent in kind, with products and materials available from Cypriot companies, such as food, building materials, etc. This move will stimulate to a certain extent the affected Cypriot Economy and at the same time will serve the Lebanon's immediate needs in the effort to alleviate the suffering and rebuild Beirut.

If this suggestion cannot be implemented at this time, please consider and process it so that if such a need arises again in the future, the State can respond in this way to any call for assistance.

We enclose again for easy reference the letter we received from Mr. Kosias on the subject.

Thank you in advance for your positive response.

Sincerely,

Petros Petrou
Chairman of the Board

Joint: Secretary of the Council of Ministers Mr. Theodosi Tsiola,
Minister of Finance Mr. Konstantinos Petridis,
Volunteer Commissioner Mr. Giannaki Giannaki,
