Information transmitted by KYPE states that after the large increase in coronavirus cases in Cyprus, especially in recent days, the OKYPY decided to evacuate other wards and Departments of the Referral Hospital, so that there are beds available to be used for patients with Covid-19.

Specifically, apart from the Pathological Clinic of the Hospital, which was evacuated last week and the Pediatric Department that already hosts patients with coronavirus, yesterday the Orthopedic, Surgical and Gynecological Departments were emptied, while the staff working in these wards were transferred. clinics Covid-19.

It is recalled that as Amalia Hatzigianni, Scientific Director of the General Hospitals of Larnaca - Famagusta, stated yesterday at KYPE, “the Reference Hospital is adequately staffed with well-equipped medical equipment, doctors, nurses and other staff to hospitalization ".

According to Ms. Hatzigianni, the staff that staffs the clinics Covid-19 "Receives special training from an infectious disease specialist and infection nurses, so that they can perform their duties both for their own protection and for the protection of patients from any spread of the coronavirus. The staff receives special training at the Hospital which lasts for about 24 hours, while they receive continuous training, with the result that the positive cases within the staff are very limited ".

It is noted that the Cardiology Clinic, the Dialysis Department, the Outpatient Clinics and the Accident and Emergency Department remain open at the General Hospital of Famagusta.
