The Famagusta District Local Government Organization is recording significant progress in completing licensing applications, confirming the constant effort being made to accelerate procedures, reduce delays and better serve citizens, according to an announcement by the Famagusta District Local Government Organization.
According to the Famagusta EOA, “the total number of applications received amounts to 4.514, while, according to the aggregated data, a total of 3.373 licensing applications have been completed to date, of which 1.804 are urban planning and 1.569 are building. The completion rate is 74,72%. A particularly important element is the analysis of the applications that have been completed. Of the 3.373 completed applications, 3.191 (94,60%) have been approved, only 149 (4,42%) have been rejected, while 33 (0,98%) have been withdrawn.”
It is noted that the low rejection rate demonstrates that the Organization's effort is not limited to simply processing applications, but focuses on the substantive examination and guidance of procedures, with the aim, where possible, of issuing permits and serving citizens, without affecting the correctness and legality of the procedure.
The data regarding the course of 2026 are also encouraging. Since the beginning of the year, 926 permits have been completed, compared to 602 permits that were completed during the corresponding period in 2025. This increase, which amounts to 53,82%, demonstrates the significant acceleration achieved in the licensing procedures.
Monthly data also confirm the positive trend. In May 2026, an increase of 24,11% was recorded compared to the previous month and an increase of 59,84% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.
At the same time, the effort to complete the physical files received by the Organization continues at an intensive pace, where to date 797 have been completed, of which 387 are urban planning and 410 are building.
This development reflects the systematic strengthening of application examination procedures, the improvement of internal coordination, as well as the continuous effort of the staff of the Licensing Department for faster and higher quality service to citizens.
The Famagusta District Administrative Organization continues to consistently implement targeted interventions, aiming to reduce backlogs, enhance transparency and further upgrade its services. The acceleration of licensing procedures is a key priority of the Organization, as it contributes substantially to the development and improvement of the daily lives of the citizens of the Famagusta district.
