Within the framework of the implementation of the strategic planning of the Famagusta Police Department regarding the prevention of road conflicts in Famagusta District and with an emphasis on the suppression of traffic violations, members of the Famagusta Police Department carried out between the dates 25-29/10/2024, road policing which ended in 192 traffic complaints.
42 breathalyzer tests were carried out and a complaint was made in which the driver tested for alcohol with a final reading of 94µg% instead of 22µg%. Among others, the complaints related to 1 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 3 for driving without a driver's license, 13 for not wearing a protective helmet, 24 violations in relation to not using a seat belt, 7 for driving vehicles without insurance against a third party, 36 for driving at excessive speed, 6 for illegal parking in a disabled parking space, 27 for illegal parking, as well as other traffic violations and offenses. In addition, two vehicles were confiscated.
The campaign of ADE Famagusta to prevent and deal with road conflicts as well as the suppression of traffic violations continues, while the public using the road network is reminded that excessive speed, driving with the use of a mobile phone and under the influence of alcohol and drugs are the main causes of fatal and serious road collisions.
