The Famagusta District Court issued a six-day detention order today against a 35-year-old man, who was arrested yesterday to facilitate investigations into cases of securing credit with false statements.

The 35-year-old is said to have rented houses and cars in the province of Famagusta, without paying the rent due. In the last few days, a total of five relevant complaints were made at the Famagusta TAE by owners of house and vehicle rental companies. Four of the above complaints concern house rental and a car rental.

According to the complainants, the 35-year-old agreed with them for the rent of a house or car for a few days, telling them that he would repay the amount owed, through a bank transfer. In fact, the 35-year-old allegedly sent the complainants a photo of a bank transfer for the respective amounts, but without the said transactions taking place.

An arrest warrant was secured against the 35-year-old, under which he was arrested yesterday and taken into custody. During interrogation, the 35-year-old allegedly admitted to committing seven similar cases in the province of Famagusta, five of which involved renting a house and the other two renting a car.

The investigators of TAE Famagusta are investigating the above cases, also examining the possibility of committing other similar cases both in the province of Famagusta and in other provinces. For this reason, the Police appeals to citizens who are probably aware of cases committed in a similar way of action to contact the nearest Police Station or the Citizen's Line, at the telephone number 1460.
