OP Famagusta: This is where free Greek language courses will be offered to Ukrainian refugees

The Service of the State Training Institutes (KIE) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth (YPPAN) informs every interested party that it has planned the operation of a free intensive Greek language program for Ukrainian refugees who have taken refuge in Cyprus. February 24, 2022 and are under temporary protection for the months of June and July of this year. Under the program, Ukrainian refugees, minors and adults, are exempt from all tuition fees, including the 10 Euro registration fee.

The courses will be conducted in one KIE per province, as shown below:

(a) Province of Nicosia: KIE Aglantzia (High School Aglantzia, Tel .: 22305215)
(b) District of Limassol: KIE Limassol (Laniteio Lyceum, Tel .: 25305245)
(c) Province of Larnaca: KIE Larnaca (Pancyprian High School, Tel .: 24304164)
(d) District of Paphos: KIE Paphos (Lyceum of Ethnarchi Makarios III, Tel .: 26306284)
(e) Province of Famagusta: KIE Paralimni (Lyceum of Paralimni, Tel: Tel .: 23820978)

As part of the operation of the program, separate sections will be created for minors and for adult Ukrainian refugees.

Therefore, all interested parties are invited to register in one of the KIE mentioned above from 6/6/2022 - 9/6/2022 from 2:30 p.m. - 7:30 pm. Upon registration, interested parties must submit to the JRC an official document from the Republic of Cyprus proving that they are Ukrainian refugees who have taken refuge in Cyprus since 24 February 2022 and are under temporary status protection, as well as proof of their identity. For any clarification or information regarding the registration, the interested parties can contact by phone the KIE which will operate in each province.

For each department there will be 5 lessons / meetings per week (Monday to Friday) in the afternoon. Each meeting will last three (3) teaching periods of 45 minutes.

For the purposes of possible future continuation of the courses in KIE, the existing books will be used for the teaching of Greek as a second language in KIE. These books will be distributed free of charge to Ukrainian refugees, as a social contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
