Famagusta Province: Another boat with irregular immigrants - Most of them men - The operator was arrested

A new boat with irregular immigrants from Syria entered the territorial waters of the Republic yesterday afternoon.

According to information, a boat with 21 people on board was spotted shortly after 17.00 yesterday evening, sailing off Cabo Greco.

They are 14 men, 3 women and 4 children, one of whom was unaccompanied.

It was found that their boat was taking on water and a second boat of the Port and Maritime Police rushed to the spot with the aim of transporting the migrants to the Golden Coast fishing shelter.

The competent services were immediately mobilized and the vessel was taken to the fishing shelter accompanied by the Coast Guard.

After all appropriate actions were taken, the 21 persons were transferred to the "Pournara" Temporary Accommodation Center.

The Police proceeded at the same time to arrest a 26-year-old person who was allegedly the operator of the boat.
