The Police arrested two people in connection with the arrival of a boat that was spotted sailing on Monday night in the maritime area of Cabo Greco, carrying 26 illegal immigrants. In the early hours, a second boat was spotted with another 18 irregular migrants, bringing the total number to 44.
Specifically, at 19:30 on Monday night, a boat was detected by the radars sailing in the sea area of Cabo Greco. A Coastal and Maritime Police boat rushed to the scene and found that 18 men, 5 women and 3 children were on board, all illegal immigrants.
The 26 were safely taken to the fishing shelter in Paralimni at midnight. As part of the investigation of the case, the Police proceeded to arrest two people, a navigator of the boat and a prohibited immigrant.
The migrants were then transferred to the Pournara temporary accommodation center for migrants in Kokkinotrimithia.
At 2:55 after midnight the radars of the Port and Maritime Police detected a second boat sailing in the sea area of Cabo Greco.
He rushed to the spot and it was found that 18 irregular migrants, all men, are on board the boat, who are being taken to the fishing shelter in Paralimni to record their details.
