The Consortium of the Sewerage Boards of Paralimni (SAP) and Ayia Napa (SAAN) announces that on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 15.00:XNUMX p.m., the inauguration of the "Sewage treatment plant upgrade of the SAP-SAAN Consortium" project will take place.

The inauguration of the project, whose construction work began on September 1, 2020 and lasted 15 months, will be held at the Wastewater Treatment Plant located in the area of ​​Agios Giannis in Kavo Greko. by the honorable Minister of the Interior, Mr. Nikos Nouri.

The project, with a total cost of €5,8 million, has been co-financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union in terms of the construction and technical part. The purpose of the project is to cover the increased flow of sewage to the Factory that has been observed in recent years, which results from the increase in the number of visitors to the tourist areas of the respective Municipalities as well as to the Ayia Napa Marina and the new tourist/residential developments that have taken place in recent years, also taking into account the new hotel/residential units under construction/planning in the area and the Paralimni Marina.

The project concerns the expansion and upgrading of the capacity of the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant by 10.000 cubic meters of wastewater so that it can process up to 31.000 cubic meters of wastewater daily during the peak months. Specifically, an additional wastewater treatment plant has been created, which is able to operate either independently or in conjunction with the existing plant, while at the same time the equipment of the existing plant has been upgraded at a further cost of €2,9, which was financed from own resources from the Sewerage Boards of Paralimni and Ayia Napa.
