Quantities of cannabis and cocaine, cultivated cannabis plants and sums of money were seized yesterday by the Police, as part of an investigation into two cases of illegal drug possession in the provinces of Famagusta and Nicosia. To facilitate the investigations, two persons aged 36 and 58 were arrested.

Specifically, around 9 p.m. yesterday, members of YKAN (Provincial Echelon of Famagusta) carried out an investigation at the home of a 36-year-old man, in a village in the province of Famagusta. During the investigation, a quantity of cannabis, weighing approximately 100 grams, was located and seized.

This was followed by an investigation in a plot of land, in the rural area of ​​the village, where three 55 cm high cannabis plants under cultivation were located in a vegetable greenhouse and seized.

The 36-year-old was arrested for spontaneous offences. He was taken to the offices of YCAN (Provincial Echelon of Famagusta) where he was interrogated in writing. He was subsequently released from custody pending scientific examinations.

Nicosia: He was driving with cocaine in the vehicle

In the province of Nicosia, around 3.30:58 p.m. yesterday, members of YKAN (Nicosia District Unit) stopped a car driven by a XNUMX-year-old man on a village road in the Nicosia district for a check.

From a search carried out in the vehicle, a quantity of cocaine, weighing approximately 100 grams, and the sums of €500 and 1900 US dollars were located and confiscated.

A search followed at the 58-year-old's home, where a quantity of cannabis, weighing 47 grams, a quantity of cocaine, weighing two grams, the sum of €7220 and a mobile phone were found and confiscated.

The 58-year-old was arrested for spontaneous offenses and taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

YKAN (Nicosia District Committee) is investigating the case.
