Following the approval of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Tourism announces a Plan for the subsidy of the realization of visitable workshops of handicrafts, handicrafts and wine gastronomy in the mountainous, remote and rural areas.
The aim of the Plan is to give Cypriot and foreign visitors the opportunity to visit the Rural Communities, to watch for a living and free of charge artists / craftsmen to create paintings, clay pots, wicker baskets, embroidery, textiles, etc. craftsmen, to prepare local products, such as halloumi, pastries, wine, traditional cold cuts, etc., as well as professional cooks - members of the Cyprus Chefs Association, to present Cypriot wine gastronomy workshops.
At the same time, the visitors will have the opportunity to participate, without any charge, in experiential activities that will be organized within the framework of the above workshops, gaining unique - authentic experiences. In addition, they will be able to participate for free in the Community tours, which will be carried out by a licensed tour guide.
In the context of the broader philosophy of this Plan, the Ministry of Tourism aims to promote, highlight and enrich the Rural tourism product. At the same time, it seeks to stimulate, in addition to local communities, small family businesses but also the sectors of culture and wine gastronomy and to give impetus to the creation of innovative business activities in these areas.
The most successful experiential workshops will be evaluated for their inclusion in the Authentic Experience Route of the Ministry of Tourism, which will be inaugurated next Autumn.
Finally, it is noted that the household sector will be similarly promoted and promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, once the relevant legislation is approved.
