Six public utility projects totaling 6,5m euros have been implemented or are being launched by the Government, which are benefiting the communities of the Famagusta province. According to a survey by Famagusta.News, these are road improvement projects, cultural and natural heritage projects, flood protection works, as well as the construction of a single pumping station project.
Specifically, three projects have been completed, three are under construction and one has been launched.
Regarding the projects for the communities that have been completed, these are two small project implementation programs in the Famagusta District. Both are about road improvements and the construction / improvement of sidewalks, with the aim of improving Community accessibility and strengthening road safety, squares, cultural and other centers, landscaping and construction / improvement of parks and green spaces, with the aim of protection and promotion of the cultural and natural heritage of our place and flood protection works to deal with problems / floods from rainwater. The first project for 2017 amounted to €464.000 and the second for 2018 in €730.000. Also, a project of the same category started in September 2019 and is expected to be completed in December 2019 at a cost. €1.047.795.
The construction of a single upgrade project for the Frenaros, Avgoros and Livadia pumping stations has also been completed. €200.000 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, while the construction of anti-flood and landscaping projects in the communities of Achnas, Acheritos, Avgoros, Liopetri and Frenaros (ongoing small-scale projects in all communities) is under construction from September 2019. Finally, the Approval of two European financing programs of the "Larnaca-Famagusta Provinces Development Company" for the LEADER Program for rural areas (2019 million and the Sea Program for fishing areas 3,2 million) was launched in July 2,5. the province of Famagusta will have a cost 2 million with the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment responsible. These are two programs that are unified for Larnaca and Famagusta. Regarding the Agricultural Areas, Through the Strategy of the Development Company of the Provinces of Larnaca - Famagusta, (total budget € 3,2 million), € 900.000 is expected to be given for the implementation of small-scale public works. The communities of Avgorou, Achnas and Acheritos / Vrysoulon benefit. Regarding the Fishing Areas, the amount amounts to € 2,3 million, which concerns the implementation of the strategies of the local fishing action teams (TODA) of Larnaca Famagusta. TODA has announced a plan to modernize restaurants. Invitations for projects related to fishing tourism, trade processing, infrastructure projects are expected to be announced soon.
