The state provided new accommodation in the free area of Famagusta in order to transfer the 150 unaccompanied children for whom some procedures are pending and who still live in Pournara.
Meetings for their smooth transfer will take place tomorrow and the transfer is expected around the beginning of next week.
"Following the decisions of the meeting chaired by President Anastasiadis on issues of minors in Pournara, today the Council of Ministers has approved the provision of accommodation in the free area of Famagusta, where the 150 unaccompanied who have not fully completed the procedures, ie some issues are pending such as the vulnerability test and the age assessment, to be transferred immediately, so that the procedures can be completed ". This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Anastasia Anthousi.
According to Ms. Anthousi, the measure is taken in an effort to unload the overpopulation that exists in Pournara.
"At the same time, today the Social Welfare Services, after the approval of a fund, will announce an expression of interest, as in order to have the proper care, additional staff and staff are needed.
