A fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning in a hotel workers' accommodation in Famagusta, resulting in two women being taken to Famagusta Hospital as a precaution due to smoke inhalation and panic.
According to Fire Department Spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the incident occurred at 01:40, when the Fire Department responded with two staffed vehicles to extinguish a fire on the ground floor of a fenced-in hotel facility where hotel staff reside.
The fire was located in one of the three bedrooms of the accommodation, causing extensive damage to the room and its equipment. The remaining areas were affected by smoke and heat.
Six foreign workers were in the apartment at the time of the fire, who were safely evacuated. Two women who were in the room where the fire broke out were taken by ambulance to the hospital for a precautionary check-up.
