The operation and institutionalization of the Cyprus Children's Parliament officially began in November 2001, as one of the most important projects of the Pan-Cypriot Coordinating Committee for the Protection and Welfare of the Child, which contributes to the implementation of the rights of the Child throughout Cyprus and in each Province.
The primary goal is the participation of the children themselves in the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
To achieve this goal, children participate in sessions, conferences and various other actions and activities. Among them and their Participation in Sessions in the Parliament for the Representatives with the main purpose of their participation in the decision-making that concerns them.
The Children's Parliament consists of the same number of Children's MPs as the number of MPs in the House of Representatives. Each province has its own Child MPs and Observers. The term of office of the Children's MPs is two years.
The Children's Parliament can play an important role in the problems of our country in cooperation with children so that the Children's Parliament is representative of all children.
The 11th term of the Children's Parliament of Famagusta District has been officially formed with the District elections in January 2023 with Famagusta District Coordinator Ms. Panagiota Neophytou and General Coordinator the president of EPEP Famagusta, Ms. Christina Sofroniou.
