The Famagusta District Court today sentenced a 25-year-old man to prison terms, with a longer sentence of three months in prison, for committing serious traffic violations. The 25-year-old had been stopped for a search and was arrested by members of the Police, on May 16, when he was found driving a car on a road in the province of Famagusta, at excessive speed and while under the influence of alcohol.

Specifically, around 10.20 on the morning of Sunday, May 16, members of the Famagusta Traffic Police, during a traffic control on the road Ayia Napa - Paralimni, located the 25-year-old driving a car with a speed of 114 kilometers, instead of up to 65 which is the speed limit at road. After the members of the Police stopped the vehicle, they subjected the 25-year-old driver to a driving test under the influence of alcohol, with a final indication of 121μg% instead of up to 22μg% which is the allowed limit.

The examinations that followed revealed that the 25-year-old was driving the car without being covered by an insurance certificate, without a driving license, and after being deprived of the right to hold a driving license, for a period of six months, by a previous court decision, following a traffic violation case. he committed it last December in Larnaca.

The deprivation of the right to hold a driver's license was imposed by the Larnaca District Court on December 28, during the trial of the traffic violation case.

The violations were committed on December 25, shortly after 12.15 pm, on Giannou Kranidioti Avenue, in Larnaca. The car driven by the 25-year-old was stopped by members of the Police for inspection and it was found that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, with an indication of 109μg%, in the breathalyzer test that was submitted.

It was also found that he was driving the vehicle without a driver's license and without being covered by an insurance certificate. The case was registered on December 28, in the Larnaca District Court, for immediate trial.

Following the hearing of the new case of traffic violations that the 25-year-old committed on May 16, on the road Ayia Napa - Paralimni, the District Court of Famagusta imposed on him, on Monday morning, prison sentences, with a maximum sentence of three months imprisonment and a shorter five days in prison for speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while deprived of a driving license, and driving without an insurance certificate.

At the same time, the Court imposed on the 25-year-old a new sentence of deprivation of a driving license for a period of six months.
